Absolut Creative Edge at Shibeen Chic

The Small Print lads invited me to be a part of Absolut Creative Edge in the front window area of the Shibeen Chic bar on Georges Street last Saturday 10th. I was one of three artists, Gaetan Billault and Karl Watson being the other two. The event is based around the Exquisite Corpse idea, where each artist draws the feet, torso and head... except it's on a huge 3-sided Absolut structure that's devided into 3 parts that can be rotated, phew! We had 40mins to do each section. Sounds confusing but hopefully you can get the gist of it from the pics below. It was a seriously fun experience doing it with the lads and the crowd seemed into it also. The constant free flow of various Absolut flavours added to night too! The night was one of ten, in differnet bars around the capital. I'll be doing another one again with two more artists this Saturday 17th in Sweeney's Mongrel. I'll have pics up for that too ;)

Art work for Kelly Green Vol.1 by Lemonada

This is a piece called Sacred Future that I did for a very talented homegrown Irish producer, Lemonada. We got in touch via Soundcloud, bigging each other up about our work, so when he asked me to make something for his new beat tape I jumped at the offer. It's called Kelly Green Vol.1, it's beautiful and it's available for FREE on his Bandcamp page! Go get it yo!

Kings of Concrete 2011

I was invited to do something for the Kings of Concrete festival that was held in Wood Quay, Dublin. Skating, BMXing, Rollerblading, Beatboxing, Breakdancing, Football skills, Food, DJs were all going off at the same time. I was doing my drawing/painting thing along with other creative folk like Brian Coldrick, Colm Mac Athlaoich, Maser and James Earley to name a few. 'Mad Ladz' Risto and Askim did the amazing peice below, along with pics of my Kosmic King. The weather was gorgeous all weekend, which added to the overall good vibes and maximum fun!

Guinness Drinker

Here's a drawing I did on the wall of Bluefingers HQ at their launch party - a night full of screenprinted tshits, Paulaner beer, Guinness on tap and music. It's a character I did last summer on one of the collaborative peices in the Temple show. The lads liked him so much they wanted him on the wall. He might even become a Bluefingers tshirt star sometime soon....

Elton John Live drawing

I was invited by the good people of Thinkhouse to draw my interpretation of Elton John Live at The Marquee in Cork yesterday. Overall it was a great experience - my first long road trip driving down that way and a pretty rockin gig! Plenty of positive feedback and felt good to visit Cork again and mimic the accent of the friendly natives.

All Hail Spring

I did this watercolour/pencil drawing as a homage to Spring and the weird mixture of varying weather it brings with it. I sat at the seafront in Blackrock the other day looking across to Howth and saw fork lightning amongst big black clouds. Panning across the Dublin Bay skyline I could see clouds falling upon parts of the city, while other areas had the sun beaming down on them. All this and a post my friends at BlueFingers put up resulted in the image below :)

Wild Man

The sunshine is a plenty these days, spring is sneaking in. The sun instantly makes me think of Summertime and festivals... which is where I found this weirdo lurking around, at Life Festival last Summer.

Work station blast off

I'm back using my shed/studio in my parents back garden - because it's there, because I haven't used it in a few years and because I'm lacking in a place to create. So I've been coming down here (Gorey) for a few days of the week to use it AND to get some more driving practice in. I gave the shed a good spring cleaning the other day and threw out a lot of old junk and embarrassing old art peices that were taking up space. So... expect to see some fresh new peices soon, as well as a website!

More jazz

Another sketchbook jazz-related post. This time, Thelonious Monk.

Mingus

Here's a pen drawing I did while babysitting my nephew and listening to lots of jazz. It's from the cover of a Charles Mingus record. I need more jazz music in my life...

Dead cocks

Here are some photos of some fine cocks from back in my hippie commune days. The drawing is done with pen and is collaged onto canvas.

Old posters post

Here are some old posters I rediscovered recently. They're about 2 years old - back when I had gigs a plenty! (I'm Slik Blik on there by the way)

Really Cool Dude

Check out this cool dude.. I drew this a while ago from an old black and white photo that I found in a flea market in Berlin. The photo mysteriously disappeared in my room somewhere before I could finish his feet... but he's still so cool without feet.
